The next generation Papilio board, called the Papilio FPGA Shield, is currently under active development at Kickstarter. We invite anyone who is interested in more details or to become involved in the development process to join us at Kickstarter!

    There was a similar project in 2013 http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2050495186/trifdev-a-re-programmable-fpga-i-o-expander-for-ar but it used a Lattice chip. Tantalizing screenshot of VHDL directly in the Arduino IDE.
